NYFA One Year Filmmaking Alum Alexander N is a film producer, writer-director and founder of the production company N Films. Through his company Alexander has produced and worked on numerous project, such as a Rolls-Royce commercial and several feature films. In addition to producing, Alexander N gives lectures on fundraising and filmmaking at a number of international universities and film schools.
Alexander spoke with NYFA about N Films, his filmmaking career, and upcoming projects.
NYFA: Can you tell us a bit about yourself, where you're from, and what brought you to New York Film Academy?
AN: Hi! My name is Alexander N In 2010, I received a full grant from the New York Film Academy that drastically transformed not only my life, those of my close-knit Los Angeles class. Because NYFA provides more than just knowledge; it offers connections, community, and opportunities. Studying and practicing up to 2012 was insightful and truly priceless. Participating in Steven Spielberg’s 2011 class was one of the most immersive learning experiences one could ever have.

NYFA: What projects have you worked on since graduating from NYFA?
AN: Since graduating, I've founded a film company, N Films. The team and I have worked on numerous projects, including a Rolls-Royce commercial and several feature films. One of our projects that is still in development is a historical post-Cold War drama, 'The SPY,' which has several globally recognized names involved.
It was a long journey full of highs and lows, but one foot after another, we've managed to secure an agreement with a Middle East fund that will invest $100M in the production of four upcoming feature films (Business Insider).
But the story doesn't end there! Having started from the bottom, we understand the struggles that emerging actors, authors, and filmmakers from around the world face in trying to be heard. We are committed to promoting 'creative equality' and celebrating the authentic cultural richness of the global community. We are passionate about real diversity and inclusion, focusing on providing opportunities for emerging talent.

NYFA: Tell us more about your upcoming project at your company N Films?
One of our upcoming projects at N Films will involve close collaboration with rising fashion designers. These designers will create collections that will debut alongside the movie's release, resulting in an unprecedented fashion-show/film-premiere event. This project, a true story of a budding designer and model making their way to the top, is a first-of-its-kind venture. The casting for both roles is still underway, and the movie will unfold in real-time, creating a new genre: "reality based on a show."
But our top priority is the next superstar producers — those passionate about making a change in the world and the filmmaking industry, bringing new visuals and storytelling to audiences while applying innovative strategies in developing and financing new film projects.

NYFA: What did you learn at NYFA that you applied directly to this project and others?
AN: Studying at the New York Film Academy was a life-changing opportunity for me that still serves as a foundation for the small and big successes of our company. Thank you the size of an elephant, NYFA!
