MFA Documentary Graduate Ashley Harris is spreading the love with her "Loveology Podcast."

Ashley Harris is a 2017 graduate of the MFA Documentary program. Originally from Arkansas, Ashley chose to continue her education at NYFA’s Los Angeles campus after transitioning out of the Navy. 

Ashley has kept busy after graduation, landing a position with Participant (formally Participant Media) and now works as a Development Coordinator at This Machine. She is also the Producer and Co-Host for the Loveology Podcast with her husband. 

“The idea to start a podcast came to me in part because of an experience I had in one of my audio classes at NYFA. We were learning how to record professional level sound even if we were in a bind and had limited resources (which can easily happen in the documentary world).  We had an assignment to do a quick interview with someone and record great sound using our laptops. The key was to find a location that was quiet enough to produce great sound even if we didn't have the best equipment, such as the inside of a car. My husband was the easiest person to interview so we recorded a quick 5-minute chat in our closet.  The next day we played the audio back in my class of seven and everyone began to laugh at what they were hearing. That was strange to me because I didn't think my husband and I were saying anything funny in particular but apparently our interaction with one another was funny. This showed me that not only were we funny, but we were funny to people who were from at least four different countries. 

Fast forward a year and a half later, I found myself as a stay-at-home mom with my two children, one being a brand-new baby boy (that’s another story for another day) and wanting to find something creative for myself. It couldn't be too time consuming given the obvious time requirements of taking care of two small children full time. A podcast seemed like a perfect solution. We got to work, and the Loveology Podcast was born.”
