MFA Screenwriting Alum, Shane Redding made it to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition with his thesis script "Captain Cam".

"Captain Cam," is a sci-fi adventure feature about a headstrong girl who must learn how to get along with others in order to save the intergalactic space cop academy she attends.

The script was Shane's thesis project that he wrote during his time at NYFA and The Big Break Contest is one of the bigger competitions that Shane's screenwriting teachers encouraged him to enter.

"The instruction from professors and feedback from my classmates played a direct role in helping me write and fine-tune the screenplay", says Shane.

Shane is currently working on a new horror screenplay that draws on Mexican folklore.

"As someone with proud Mexican heritage, it is something that I am excited about."
